After an assembly phase that lasted several months, the fifth machine of this type is now in operation after extensive modernisation and optimisation procedures.

This machine type has been available for 20 years, but based on the experience gained from the 4 machines of this type that we have in operation, we are still convinced by the basic concept of these machines.

After we converted one of these machines according to our requirements last year, the surface quality we are able to achieve may now be considered to be in the premium class.

This quality level has also been confirmed by our customers.

For this reason, we have decided to set up the recently purchased machine on the same basis immediately, and the remaining 3 machines will also be converted to this standard gradually.

The scope of this modernisation process included both hardware and software.

The process involved use of the newest digital drives and path measurement systems, as well as the replacement of all guides, bearings, and ball screws. In order to control these components, we have decided on the "TNC 530 HSCi" control system offered by Heidenhain. These controls are intended to be used in all Droop & Rein FOG2500 type machines in order to mill "in the same language" in the future.

In addition to this, thermally sensitive components are installed in air-conditioned switching cabinets, which results in a significant stabilisation of the machine's running time.
